The last third of our hike was really exciting: Awesome landscape, strong storms, evacuated areas and a sandstorm. This completes our Iceland hike but also leaves some long-term changes.

Accompanied by rain, fog and wind, we went on through the worlds largest volcanic rift Eldgjá and along the river Skaftá heading north.

After we left civilization behind us, the landscape became more and more interesting and beautiful. Besides nice waterfalls and rivers, there was also bad weather and quicksand.

In the summer of 2018, we spent three weeks hiking in the south of Iceland. Already the first few days were very eventful.
